Broccoli rabe with garlic cooked in olive oil and served over zucchini ricotta-parmesan pancakes.
Tomato-basil chicken sausage.
Vanilla with milk chocolate Haagen Daz ice cream bar for dessert.
Decaf coffee.
Here's the fireplace from dinner at my friend's last night. I so wish I'd gotten this done in my own house. I have a fireplace but have to build the fire. With this new gas connection, she just has to turn it on and voila, a fire like this. Very nice for ambiance in dining.

(23,314 posts)with locally made sauerkraut and locally corned beef. Franz makes a marbled rye that is quite good and readily available year round. A tossed salad with the last of the veggies from my produce drawer used up. Tomorrow is grocery shopping day and I'll restock the fridge.
Speaking of natural gas connections...Last summer I had our gas grill plumbed for natural gas. BEST $300 I've ever spent. No more running out of propane while I'm making dinner on the grill.

(22,035 posts)I'm alone in the mountain house and I'm craving some barbecue.
Pork ribs cooked in Stubbs sauce in the crock pot. They'll go under the broiler for a minute or two to crisp them up.
Homemade macaroni and 4 cheeses. Special Cole slaw with lots of goodies thrown in.
A Klondike bar for dessert and maybe a short brandy.

(22,767 posts)Still about 2/3 of the quiche left from last night, and some roasted sweet potatoes from ATK recipe I saw yesterday on IG and made instead of baked.
Sitting here at the moment freezing and that fire looks really nice. Sipping a little hot coffee with Frangelico to try to warm up.

(17,437 posts)It's been a while since I had stuffed peppers.
My old standby was rice, ground beef and onions plus garlic, but it is not inspiring nor would I say loaded.

(10,136 posts)which means we'll be having chili tomorrow and the next day as well.
The chili contains ground beef, onions, garlic, tomatoes, pinto beans - and at least 6 kinds of chile: bell pepper, Anaheim chiles, dried anchos, dried New Mexico chiles, dried guaillo chiles, and chipotles. Usually add some poblanos as well, but didn't have any in the house.
