What's for Dinner, Sat., Apr. 23, 2022

Crabcake and butter lettuce salad. Vinaigrette dressing using Dijon.

To drink, pineapple mango kombucha.

Dessert: This might sound a little strange, but a toasted bran muffin with milk chocolate and vanilla nut decaf coffee. The toasted muffin and chocolate is a good combo.

If I make steak, I do open a good Cabernet or red Zin, and Chianti when I make something Italian with red sauce, but here at home that's about the only "officially approved" pairing I always do.

I like reds much better than whites, so when it's just me, I cook something I like and open a good red. I'm sure they don't often match up perfectly, so if I cook for others I'll have red and white on the table.

I do order the recommended pairing at a restaurant.

I heartily support drinking it if you've got it. I have just a few bottles left from before 2000.

Crash diet. Need to lose 9 pounds by Friday.

My diet is as lean as the number of people online today. It's not just here. It's everywhere. Where is everyone? What are they doing?

with spinach with horseradish and sour cream for a side. I have the flu, or at least a cold, so my son, our weeknight cook, is making dinner (with a few pointers from Mom). I'm having him try out the technique of poaching the eggs in the oven in a muffin tin. He loves Hollandaise and has become quite expert in making it over the last few years.
