whose idea was the basil freezer balloons?

Or did I read it on a blog somewhere?

In any event, they look great and I'm really happy about them.

The idea is to preserve your summer basil by tearing off the leaves, putting them loosely in a freezer bag (bags), blowing air into the bag so it's inflated, and sealing.

Mine have been in the freezer for a week now, and the leaves are bright bright green, all separate and free in the bags.

What a good idea.

I already have two huge batches of pesto in the freezer and the basil keeps growing like a weed. I'm going to try that.

isn't that going to allow water vapor to move out of the leaves as frost in the top of the bag?

Oh, wait! Or is that the idea, kinda home freeze drying?
