(1,136 posts)The smallest ham they had was 12 pounds... Come on over. There's plenty left. Trying to figure out what to do with it all now. Frozen some, saved the bone for soup. Just ate a ham biscuit for a snack... Ham, ham, ham!!

(6,057 posts)Yams in beef stew? That sounds very strange to me.
But so did Marmite spaghetti before I tried it. (And still nobody believes me about how good that is.)

(6,057 posts)I'm not up to speed on yams.
When I think yams, I always think of the mushy sickly sweet candied yams that Aunt Martha brought for Thanksgiving dinner.
Even years later, I get the involuntary barf reaction when I think of them.

(106,886 posts)Actually a nice, sweet root crop simply as is. And they go well in savory dishes.

(24,146 posts)not sure if it will be beef or just beans yet, depends on my sister. i'll throw some diced jalapeno and creamed corn into the cornbread and bake it in the skillet with bacon fat.
i'm also doing a flourless chocolate cake for dessert.

(22,773 posts)My father-in-law made an interesting shrimp curry in a vermouth and sour cream sauce over pasta dish. It was actually very good. It was a real 1950s dish, but it turned out great!

(9,791 posts)I had three romaine hearts that needed to be used and I picked up fresh boneless skinless chicken breasts at the store this afternoon. I also got a bottle of Marie's Caesar dressing to toss it in. I then added shredded parm and garlic croutons.
