Anyone know an online source for harissa paste or sauce? Or a good recipe?

The online store would have to be a source that ships to Canada. I've looked at quite a few places online and have come up empty - they either ship to Canada and don't carry harissa, or they carry it and don't ship to Canada. I've looked at several grocery stores in town and in the city and nothing. I don't feel like driving downtown to go to the specialty shops...there's only one middle eastern place and it's more than an hour away (we've had crappy roads all winter too, so not a fan of driving there).

I have a few recipes I want to try that list that as an ingredient...I know you can also make it so I would also happy if anyone has a recipe for it that is tried and tested...there are a few recipes online that are wildly different and I don't want to be the guinea pig and waste ingredients. I would really appreciate any help...I've been searching for a month now.

I was making Damaris Phillips' Beer Cheese and Mac and I didn't want to spend too much time looking for the harissa in a store (although I am sure I can get it). I made the first recipe I googled and it gets good reviews:

Ingredients:

10-12 dried red chili peppers
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon ground coriander
1 teaspoon ground caraway seeds
1/2 teaspoon cumin

Preparation:

Soak the dried chilies in hot water for 30 minutes. Drain. Remove stems and seeds.

In a food processor combine chili peppers, garlic, salt, and olive oil. Blend.

Add remaining spices and blend to form a smooth paste.

Store in airtight container. Drizzle a small amount of olive oil on top to keep fresh. Will keep for a month in the refrigerator.

--------------

The recipe called for 3 tablespoons but I was afraid of going too spicy. However, I should have used it all! I think my version was too mild.

I had a look at the site and they do ship to Canada, but the shipping charges are really high, not sure I can afford $40 for a bit of harissa. Oh, the drawbacks of living in Canada lol - shopping. Thank you anyway, I do appreciate it!

I pinned the recipe to try too...thanks!
