Yum!
Today, a group of the guys have gone fishing and we are hopefully going to have a bunch of fish to fry up.

(9,833 posts)Tell me what I should order. It will probably be a few weeks before I can get in the parking lot if opening day (today) is any indication. I feel sorry for the Krystal next door that serves fried chicken, and the Church's fried chicken that opened up a few weeks ago, plus the Kroger that sells chicken, the KFC across the highway, the Zaxby's a couple blocks down and the Bojangles about a mile further down the road.
We're broke out with chicken joints around here.

(146,218 posts)Get a mess of chicken. I like mild, but if you have people that like spicy, get a mix. Do not get chicken tenders or skinless or anything like that. Get the chicken.
Sides: Red beans, cole slaw, mashed potatoes. French fries are meh. Red beans are great.
Biscuits - you can't have too many. They reheat really well with some butter and jam.
I feel sorry for all those competitors, too. Ain't no chicken like popeyes!

(35,685 posts)after I pick up my friend at the airport--if we're hungry, that is. I'm working straight through pick-up time, cleaning, putting things away, etc. I'm getting through it 'cuz I know there will be many fun mealtimes in the week ahead!

(106,886 posts)I have a few bucks from work I did on a grant. Don't fry much at home. Small place and it reeks of fried food for days no matter how I try to do it. So - it's either fish 'n chips or fried chicken downtown.

(106,886 posts)The chicken had a buttermilk/flour coating; sweet potatoes were done with bell pepper and red chilies, asparagus was served with a lemon/dill/butter sauce; cole slaw was sweet and tangy; strawberries 'n cream set on a little biscuit of some sort.
Much more than I could eat at one sitting, so I saved a bit of each to bring home. Save for the strawberries 'n cream.

(35,685 posts)Did I ever get a laugh out of your post yesterday. The sr. center story sounded like something out of "Waiting for God."
My friend and I picked up grilled ribs and chicken at a takeout place I've patronized before. It's good. Pricey but good. We were both ravenous, so we didn't care.
Came home and had it with red wine, Mike's Mango, coleslaw, rice pilaf, and roasted potatoes.
Tomorrow we are headed for the Jersey Shore. We are going to sit on the shore and go to a seafood place. Haven't been there since Sandy, so I'm sure there will be surprises for me.

(50,130 posts)They may have moved on to another yard. I had mixed feelings about them anyway. Adorable.....but oh my pot garden vegetables!
Have a wonderful time with your friend! There's nothing like catching up with someone you haven't seen for some time. I reunited a couple of years ago with a cousin I hadn't seen since I was a teenager. We were very close as children. Lordy, we will never run out of things to talk about and things to put on our bucket list to do together.
