What's for Dinner, Tues., Jan. 5, 2016

Avocado-Grapefruit Salad (has spicy dressing).

Breaded chicken cutlet.

Roasted tomatoes. I bought five containers of gold cherry tomatoes and intend to roast them in the oven with garlic and basil.

It is so cold here!! It will be nice to have the oven going at low heat, putting off all those delicious aromas of garlic and basil.

Guardian article about the militants who are occupying the bird refuge in Oregon. These are their provisions for the siege. I happened to notice a brand new cast iron pan and wondered how they were going to cook in a completely new pan without everything sticking.

I need it.

I have paid no attention to that issue whatsoever, which is why I missed the joke.

They are just after attention, so they'll get none from me!

it properly! They will probably leave it behind when they sneak out and head back home.

PS: I have been getting a lot of laughs out of the whole situation.

maybe pasta with a quick tomato sauce. we're between paydays so there's not much in the cupboards or fridge.

our cold snap mostly broke and we've been in the 40s for a few days, but it's supposed to be in the 20s all weekend.

stay warm

'Tis been a while since I had these (like 10 years). I wouldn't do this to the huge ocean scallops, but I don't mind so much for the smaller bays. With seasoned oven fries, cole slaw and corn-on-cob. Maybe a spritz of lemon on the scallops.
