What's for Dinner, Fri., July 15, 2016

I have a craving for cold lasagna, but I have no prepared lasagna at all in my refrigerator.

Perusing a March '15 Cooking Light mag, I found this recipe for no-cook entrees. I thought that was interesting--that they had that as an article so early in the year. It is definitely a good article to have around during hot weather months. Anyway, it had an recipe for no-cook lasagna. I have all the ingredients; just need zucchini (japple! wish you were my neighbor!).

The no-cook entrees could also be called cooking raw. Here are some of the other recipes in the article:

Thai-inspired tomato soup
Pistachio pesto noodle salad
Cherry chocolate brownies
Raw vanilla chocolate sauce
One-step zucchini noodles
Angel-hair "pasta" with tomato marinara

Nothing special, Just grilled with some seasoning and some sweet baby rays barbecue sauce. Simple side of cole slaw. I'm not usually the griller and am sort of afraid of it so I have started doing the grilling in this house. No dirty pans to clean, lol.

cooked with hamburger, brats, garlic and onions. Then I separate the cooked spaghetti, half gets the pasta bolognese and half gets garlic alfredo sauce; both topped with fresh grated parmesan.

Baby red spuds, corn on the cob. Will make a stock with the shells, and freeze it for another time.

(Hey, twas my B-day yesterday, so this is my present to me.)

and it also was the RG's b'day! You were born on the same day.

Food geniuses must be born on this date, yes?

past 3 weeks and are down 14" for the average rainfall. We are watering a few things, but everything is about toast at this point. Seriously, it is very depressing to watch the sky darken, clouds gather, and the rain moves somewhere else, sometimes even leaving a rainbow behind, which is a huge insult.

We are getting cherry tomatoes and basil and I made a caprese inspired pasta salad earlier in the week for our lunch.

I need to use up an excess of chicken stock that's in the freezer, so I might make the roasted red pepper, tomato and smoked gouda soup recipe that I posted some time ago.

I know what it's like; have lived through a drought. Heartbreaking, to watch those plants die like that.

using up the last of the little red potatoes for a few wedgie fries. (I sure love my slow cooker and air fryer these summer days.)
