I don't see Cher here, so I'll start:
we're having snacks for dinner. Fresh guacamole and blue corn chips, devilled eggs, cucumber-scallion salad, and I bought some teriyaki chicken salad at the Green Turtle market, and we're watching an episode of The Great Briitish Baking Show.

(182,803 posts)State parks have added yurts and somehow one was still available last week.
Momma has a serious menu planned for the next two days.

(182,803 posts)The park system is building 50 yurts in locations from Kiptopeke on the Eastern Shore to Natural Tunnel in the mountains. Yurts are circular, semi-permanent tents traditionally used by nomads in Mongolia.
Until now, Kiptopeke has had the only yurt in the state park system. It was built nearly 20 years ago.
Its amazing how well its held up, said Clyde Cristman, director of the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation. Its been incredibly popular.
Pocahontas State Park in Chesterfield County has the first new yurt to be completed in the $1.4 million project. Three others are in various stages of completion there, with a target date of early October. Reservations will open when a certificate of occupancy is secured.

(13,485 posts)Homemade, hand churned ice cream. Vanilla... that's all, nothing else. Just made it and I'm going to finish off the whole half+ gallon. Well, I may have to share... but that's it for me... well, maybe a little something with it... but that's all!
4 c. Whipping cream
4 c. Half and half
2 c. Sugar
4 tsp. Vanilla extract
2 pipe cleaners (artery cleaning)

(2,302 posts)I decided today to pull out my ice-cream maker and try some sherbet or sorbet. I love it nice and tart and I'm looking forward to some delicious combos like perhaps orange-lime!

(13,485 posts)making it sometime. Anyway, it's healthier; I could do away with the pipe cleaners.

(2,016 posts)That's it.
I was a bad boy yesterday, and went to a casino seafood buffet. While I ate my share, I wasn't impressed. The lobster was dry and overcooked. Everything else kinda followed from there. Curiosity satisfied, but I won't go to that one again.

(1,328 posts)a couple years ago, it was my 70th BD and promised myself lobster. We went to a good restaurant up here and ordered, got 2 tails and I had to cut them with the steak knife.
I did tell the waitress on the 2nd one and she offered to get me another but my husband was done and I didn't want to wait so took what was left home for the dog.
Very disappointing but will try again some day.

(1,706 posts)first-of-the-season green beans from the Farmers Market, and garlic bread. All gone now, except for a couple glasses of Pinot Grigio left, they may not make it past sunset either
I used some shallots in the sauce for the pasta. We got a handful of shallots (4-5 medium ones) for 35 cents, quite cheap at the Burmese store. (We get peeled garlic there too, a time saver yet retains the flavor, about $2 for just short of a pint jar full. Anyway, my question was, do you have any ideas for what to do with the rest of the shallots? I was going to pickle some as a relish, but would welcome other ideas.

(3,744 posts)I'm having some tacos with tzatziki and a touch of mint sauce. Also some avocado and a salad with some homemade Italian dressing. Maybe a few chips though I haven't decided which ones.
