(9,701 posts)picked an hour ago from my garden of course. They must be all green - no red flesh visible inside or they don't taste right.
Use half Crisco and half bacon grease if you can and fry in a cast iron skillet for firmer tomatoes. I use half flour and half corn meal for breading. Eat them quick because they lose consistency and taste if they sit around too long. Yummy yummy.

Salad - lettuce, spinach leaves, just picked tomato, radishes, ham and a few olives with ranch dressing.
Some peach cobbler, very tasty, but not so pretty. TJ made it from some fresh peaches. I think it got left in the oven too long and she salvaged some of it.
I think I'll have an Irish Whiskey later in the hopes I'll sleep better tonight. Things have been stressful here in Charlottesville.

(2,302 posts)Boy oh boy, you made me think about my mother's chopped liver. You could have it on rye bread, saltines, or a Ritz (my preference). Trying to decide if I should try to make it myself or ask her to make some for when I visit next month. Realizing that I'm 66 and I could damn well make it myself (but of course I'll have to ask Mom for the recipe)!

(58,785 posts)Tonight was a pasta bowl dish of prawns and artichoke hearts in a broth made with the shells steeped in chicken broth. A fast favorite. I can't keep parsley now that the rabbits know where it was, so I sliced in some mustard greens. Still yum anyway.

(5,688 posts)Then topped with red onion, tomatoes and fresh oregano and rosemary from the garden. The sides were leftover eggplant parm from last night and leftover white bean hummus. Toasted bread to dip in everything.
Followed that with turkish coffee and a glass of ruby port and bread pudding with maple syrup.
Feel fat and sassy!

(2,016 posts)using pork. Had a sale on Hatch chilis, so I roasted them on the grill, skinned, seeded, chopped and froze what I didn't immediately needed. I roasted about 3 lbs.
The chili had roasted jalapenos, pasilla and Hatch chilis (and roasted garlic and onion, chopped cilantro and a touch of lime juice). I made too much, however, so I froze about 1/2 of this batch also.
Oh, served over white rice.
