Put a bit of oil in a skillet, when heated add sunflower seeds. Slowly brown them on medium heat. Turn off the heat and add a bit of soy sauce. Quickly stir to coat with the soy sauce and dump all on a paper plate or paper towel. Sprinkle the seeds with garlic powder.
Tastes like bacon.

(60,071 posts)I lost my taste buds in early 2016, and just recently they have regenerated to the point where I can taste what I am cooking. Still not confident in my taste, but I have a willing live in taster.

(60,071 posts)The tofu seems to granulate in my mouth, but that could be because I got firm tofu. I might have to try miso soup with some soft tofu and nori.

I have the peanut allergy, so - sunflower seeds are my "go to" bar snack.
I'll try your idea. What the heck, it's just seeds. (Toasted pepitas are cool too.)
