How to Make Soup

(Another.)

'Soup is a true wonder of alchemy. Together, water, onions and time turn water into broth, bland into savory and thin into thick. But for those results, process is critical: The finest soups layer flavors every step of the way. We will teach you about soup’s building blocks, then walk you through combining them with a basic recipe that will help you transform practically any ingredient into a simple, satisfying meal.'

It is supposed to snow here, so there is nothing finer than a pot of soup during a snow storm!

At least in my childhood house.

Now that I have a panini press, I make grilled cheeses with Gruyere or Comte cheese. Mmmmmmm!

BTW, that panini press cooks a lot of things for me. Potatoes, meats, asparagus, naan, almost everything - except soup!

world's easiest soup, as its poster called it: One can of a good brand of refried beans, plus water. Dress up with anything desired, or not.

I've never made it but have always remembered because I suspect with a little dressing up it could be pretty good. I normally saute onion in a little bacon grease to add flavor to refried beans anyway.

And every once in a while, coming home late or just needing to rotate some pantry goods, I make a soup by emptying a few cans of beans, jar of salsa, spices, etc. (perhaps some frozen corn or leftover veggies in the fridge), and it's ridiculously fast and easy for being so enjoyable.
