What's for Dinner, Sun., Feb. 24, 2019

Roasted quail. The RG made this about a week ago but wasn't happy with the results, so he wanted to try it a different way.

Chicken croquettes to go along with it, as quail are tiny little things.

A Hasselback potato:

I made a tossed green salad with red peppers, green sweet ajito peppers, red onion, carrot, and cucumber.

For dessert, we had tres leches cake. The RG made a new one, but this time he mixed peach into the cream.

I think they are calling it a bomb apoclalypse. Have everything except the bacon and ground sirloin.

I’m being frugal today, so the chili was assembled from leftover meatloaf, some frozen chili from last month, a can of chili beans, a can of Rotel, a can of diced jalapeños, and tomato paste.

I'm meeting my son on Long Island for dinner and he found a place he wanted to try called Biscuits and Barbeque. I'll report back later.

Your potatoes look great! I've tried roasting a quail but it eludes me and it's now on the "I'll eat in in a restaurant because I can't/won't cook it well" category. I'm sure yours will be delicious, NJCher!

I've never made it before, have to see how it goes. Wish I'd looked at recipes beforehand and gotten some feta. We actually are having dessert tonight, lemon sponge pudding - I've had a hankering for it since someone here asked what to do with lots of lemons.

I didn't care for the combination of tomato sauce and softly cooked eggs. But the lemon dessert was wonderful, so it's all good.

in the crock pot with red wine and thyme, onions, tomatoes, mushrooms, and garlic. Will toss some carrots in there in about an hour. Mashed potatoes. Gravy, of course.

It smells really, really good and I am starting to get very hungry, lol!

A lemon sheet cake with lemon buttercream frosting. It’s still baking. Once that is done, a frozen deep dish spinach pizza.

corn and green beans. I was craving a mustard burger hence the lack of cheese on mine. whole wheat bread slathered with a ton of yellow mustard and a huge amount of black pepper on both sides of the burger. something from my youth. may have a bite of ice cream later.
