For ohiogal and pollock mst sgt I have my polish on today

Polish cabbage soup ok I’m actually trying to figure out how Babci made it.

One head cabbage chopped all to hell

A couple onions diced then remaining onion ripped apart by hand because I went to pantry to get diced tomatoes. Then got sidetracked and couldn’t find the knife I was using.

One can diced tomatoes a big can using electric can opener found the knife i was using to chop cabbage and onions up with was on top keurig.

Sauté the cabbage and onions with just a bit of burger drippings

In stock pot added beef broth and cabbage and onions diced and chunks and diced tomatoes simmering it all.

Cast iron skillet browning burger I add a lot of pepper

Once burger is done just drop it in the pot with the veggies

My boys asked dad what are you cooking I said sons. It smells like you’re great grandmas kitchen I’m cooking polish chili. It’s a lot of Polish chili I’m gonna let it simmer for awhile.

Oh I forgot kidney beans also.

You fry your cabbage first? Ws going to try vegetable soup with ground beef an old friend told me about. Not enough vegetables .

Most involve rice but kidney beans sounds great. Cabbage, onions, tomatoes, ground beef. Sounds healthy too. Unfortunately my husband has Crohns and some vegetables do not agree with him, cabbage is one of them.

Your boys and the Boog are in for a real treat! In memory of your Babci.

IIRC my Polish Grandma made a soup with leftover ham (usually the day after Easter) and something like noodles and cabbage in it. I was too small to remember much else. Oh, yeah, and cabbage!

Hope you all enjoy!!!

Missing the carrots and potatoes is almost a crime.

Out of Detroit and Cleveland, you need the carrots.

But if you want a tip, always roast or saute the cabbage before making the soup

Otherwise you have to leave the soup on simmer for hours.

Quarter 2 heads of cabbage and. Drizzle with oil.

Salt and pepper liberally

Put in a 425 degree oven for 15 minutes.

Then start the soup recipe

I did sauté before I started soup but I didn’t do the 425 in the oven. I’ll do that next time , doing chili today I have maybe another week lay off with the union.

On the bright side the polish is all gone boys loved it so it is in the rotation thanks top
