I hate HomeGoods/Marshalls/TJMax.....

Especially HomeGoods. I'm a sucker for hardware stores and kitchen supply stores. I just get lost in there and the mind goes to "well if I do this, or that I can make this or that"... ugggg.
So I'm in HomeGoods and I see a bigass mortar and pestle.. I kinda sorta recognize it as a Mexican variety. Heavy as hell and I think, shoot for $15 it's worth it. If I don't use it I could use it as a paper weight.
I get it home and look it up on the google machine..
It's a granite "molcajete". Neat, now what do I do with it.. Further googling tells me I have to season it before using. Ok, grind raw rice, beans or raw corn four times to get the grit loose and make it smooth.. Ugg... too much like work. I get a circular hard bristle brush and cut off the handle. I stick it in my electric drill and go to town.. About 15 min later this thing has all the loose stuff gone. I then soaked it in water for a few hours, dried it and ground some white rice in it.. All white with no granite flakes.. Grind in some garlic cloves for flavor.. Mission accomplished...
On to the salsa and guacamole!!!!
