First of all, it's quality time together which is everything.

Secondly, the kid is learning something that he will use as he grows up.

(Al & I have family living w/ us--his son's family. The 13-year old boy and the 11-year old girl don't know how to do ANYTHING for themselves. I don't think either one of them has ever even washed a dish in their whole lives. Hell, by the time I was 13, I was putting dinner on the table for my family. Mom & Dad both worked full-time, and that was my way to help out.)
