Related: About this forumVirtual BBQ Contest...
I got a message from the Kansas City Barbecue Society that they will host a virtual BBQ contest. I thought this might be an April Fool's joke but the message was sent after that and there is a judge application link attached. They will SHOW you photos and describe the meat and have you judge from that. Smell, taste and texture are so important when judging. I don't see the point of this.
These are some strange times...

(16,334 posts)I've tried the jack fruit versions but I think a good BBQ sauce on top of anything helps. I saw a seitan version but didn't buy it. Nothing replaces that good smokey, meaty, fleshy real BBQ but some things help when you get a hankering.
This is a good lentil loaf with a truly flavorful BBQ sauce. It's time consuming (cause you have to let it rest a few times) but it's got a great meaty texture which slices beautifully unlike some other veggie loaves.
