What's for Dinner, Sat., May 30, 2020

Hamburgers on brioche rolls. Brown sugar over bacon on the burgers.

I made a big green salad with greens I cut this morning. Cherry tomatoes, Persian cuke, red onion.

For dessert, hot ginger tea and shortbread cookies with orange marmalade.

Shrimp steamed per directions on the Old Bay package. Leftover Normandy vegetables from Costco.

Had a couple of potatoes, and an onion, and some leftover bacon and sour cream. Cooked the bacon, took it out to drain, chopped the onion, sauteed it in bacon fat until just golden, sliced the potatoes, stirred into onion and bacon. Mixed sour cream with some mayonnaise, garlic powder, and seasoned salt, stirred that in with sharp cheddar cheese. It was supposed to be a casserole but it was too hot to turn on the oven and I didn't want to get another pan dirty, so I covered the pan and cooked it on low for about forty five minutes. Yeah it might have been better baked with some crispy bits, but it was great as it was.

No dessert - I've put on too many pounds in the last few months, with stress from lockdown and our construction. I get a cup of hot chocolate at bedtime.
