With Chinese seasoning. It can vary, but this batch has sake, soy sauce, garlic, fresh ginger, star anise, and five spice. I’m thinking of stuffing it into steamed dumplings.

I need to learn how to make that. Maybe the next time I buy some pork. I also need to learn how to make baked bao - I've done the steamed kind already.

Going to keep away from baking

I did bake early in the pandemic. It was good stress relief. Enjoy!

Since there are only 2 people in the house, when I bake muffins or a pound cake I freeze about 2/3 of it on day one. Four muffins fit nicely into a quart freezer bag, and make 2 servings for 2 people when defrosted.

I need to learn to make smaller pies, though

a meat loaf, and a 6LB stuffed chicken..(stuffing a bit o cheat, Bell's ready mix stuffing), is there any other kind..let's not forget the mashies, veggies (Italian cut green beans, the only kind HE will eat), and gravy..

Between sandwiches and evening meals meat loaf gone, 1/2 sauce in freezer, and chicken, will finish tonight..of course there is jello, and choco pudding...left over from "death by chocolate"....

Someone here said their house is so clean, you could hold an exorcism....here too..

Soups are a good way to clean out your fridge and pantry and stock up for the chilly days ahead. Gotta stop soon cause the freezer is gonna explode. I've made small batches that make about 6 servings of Beef and Barley Soup, Clam Chowder, Loaded Cream of Potato Soup, Cannellini Bean Soup with Smoked Turkey, Chili, thick Green Pea Soup with Spam (don't knock Spam, it's great in soups) and Italian Wedding Soup.

The shorter days make me want to curl up when it's dark so having a choice of hearty soups that can be quickly nuked for a no fuss dinner is perfect.

I've been experimenting with various additions to my basic white bread recipe. Freezer is filled with breads I like - Cheese with Jalapenos is tops, also like the fragment aroma of Rosemary and Thyme, Roasted Garlic and Parmesan, Green Onions and Roasted Peppers... note to self: buy more butter.

That sounds kinda interesting! May have to try that.
I use a square half gallon freezer container and freeze what will fit in a foodsaver bag. My soup lays flat!

He got all us kids hooked on the stuff, but don't love it like he did and can't eat it as a standalone serving. It's a bit too salty for my taste, but it's a pretty good substitute for ham when mixed into other ingredients, because who has ham just laying around? I use it mostly in omelettes, casseroles and Soups, its especially good with dried bean recipes.0 Give it a try, it comes in many different favors than the original version.

I also freeze stuff flat whenever I can, it takes up less space and thaws much faster. I put a plastic bin in the freezer to stand up all my soup packets, it's very easy now to pick one out without hunting all over the freezer for what I want to eat.
