What's for Dinner, Sun., Jan. 17, 2021

Very tender pork chop (boneless) smothered in mushrooms (wild porcini) and creminis.

Polenta with tomato sauce. It also goes well with the mushrooms.

Tossed green salad with cucumber, avocado, bacon, tomato, and red onion. Red leaf and watrcress.

Berry kombucha.

Dessert: pumpkin roll (spongecake) filled with cream cheese. Sweet & spicy Good Earth tea to go with it.

... cilantro, since I'm one of those with a gene that causes cilantro to taste like soap.

We have too many vegetables left in the crisper and we found a package of lo mein noodles in the cabinet.

All the vegetables are chopped: Red onion, celery, garlic, green pepper, cabbage, ginger, carrot, spinach and mushrooms. They'll all be thrown in the wok along with a coating of sesame oil. When the veggies are almost cooked, we'll add a mixture of chicken broth, flour and soy sauce to thicken up everything. It'll be served over Chinese lo mein noodles. Although it's a mixing of cuisines, we also have the remains of a large bottle of sake.

I also found a box of Girl Scout Cookies Thin Mints. Talk about mixing up cuisines!

I’ll wrap it in parchment in the next half hour and back on the smoker for another few hours. We’ll have the brisket, homemade mac and cheese and a kale Caesar salad.
