Is there a separate decorating group
or can I ask a decorating question here?
Basically I'm looking for some kind of piece, maybe something industrial, to put in my office. I just want something quirky and fun and don't even know exactly what I'm looking for. Does anyone have any ideas?

1. Well...
Have you ever watched "American Pickers" on the History channel?
Don't know if you ever seen the show before, but these guys always finding all kinds of "stuff." Check it out...you might get some ideas from them! Good luck! ![]() |

3. Yeah....
I watched them last night as usual and went to their website to see if they had anything.
I liked the Picker sisters show, too but it isn't on right now. I don't know if it was canceled or not. |

2. Are you looking for something like a table
or wall art or a sit-around piece?
If the former, I would take a measurement of how much space you can afford to give it, and then hit the used and antique markets to find something out of the norm (noting that it may need some work). You can find the most unusual pieces (and conversation starters) rather inexpensively in places like that. |

4. Good idea...
I don't know what I want.
![]() I spend a huge amount of time in my home office and I'm always changing things around because I get sick of looking at the same thing all the time. Thanks for the responses. |

5. Handed down to me was an old secretary desk
from the early 1800s that has been in my family this whole time. I refuse to get rid of it and have even paid to have it stored with personal items when I have sold all of my furniture to move.
It is one of those weird, funky, out of place, doesn't go with anything, hand made wood items that goes ANYWHERE because it doesn't go anywhere. I love it. Good luck hunting! |

6. An old secretary desk
sounds really neat. As you said when it doesn't go with anything it goes with everything.
![]() I have a mirror in my living room that I would love to have in my office - it's old, funky, and really neat but my husband loves it in the living room and given how heavy it is it would be a pain to move. So, I'll have to find something else for in here. |

spending some time there is a good alternative and excuse for not working. Thanks for the link.

13. There should be a "decorating" group.
I live in a 90 year old house in Winter Park, Florida that I decorated myself using stuff I bought at the Salvation Army, yard sales, Goodwill, and frankly stuff I found on the curb. For instance, my bedroom is all wicker and the family down the street had wicker porch furniture which they put on the curb for the garbage man. It was tan, but I asked if I could have one of the pieces and whammo, I spray painted it white and it is now a chair in my all white wicker bedroom.

15. Not really.
I added a bamboo plant to the office and moved a little, unusual table I already had in here but I'm still looking.
Thanks for all the suggestions. |

18. There's always some goodies on the tray
Candy or little favors for Sparkly's piano students, something for guests if we're having a party, a place to put things on the way in . . . .
He actually serves a purpose. |
