Our fridge started running too warm. It was a side-by-side. I took the freezer side apart and saw the coils were frozen in ice. It turns out there is indeed a heating element that runs ever so often to melt that ice. The part was inexpensive and it wasn't hard to replace.

If you have pets in the house, sometimes the hair gets in under the fridge and messes with the cooling abilities. I had that problem a while back (German Shepherd in the house) and after removing the grill and vacuuming out the fuzz, it was running fine.

Just a thought.

Hardware stores sell a long marrow brush that gets the dog hair etc off.

If the problem is too bad this might help. I hope so, otherwise repairs are expensive. Good luck!

Outside temp shouldn’t matter but indoor temp will.

that is probably frozen. It's probably a thermostat in the freezer.

my great aunt used her 60's awesome frigerater til the 80's. think she had 2 or 3 to make it to 99 in the aughts. she made it to obama.

that space, if you have room to do that.

A lot of kitchens are designed in a modular format and unless a person buys one of the multi thousand dollar refrigerators, the one that they have may not be exchanging heat efficiently in tight quarters.

The repair guy came and did some maintenance. He pulled out the unit and vacuumed the coils in back and put it back with some space behind.

The frig is running great now, 40 or lower.

Happy Holidays!

The refrigerator, range, deep freezer that my parents had were almost bullet proof. To get that type of quality today, a person is looking at at least $1,000 per appliance minimum.
