Removing a broken glass storm window advice please

For some reason, the glass insert storm window in my front door shattered. I think it was safety glass, because it shattered into little pieces. Most of the glass is in between the doors and I got out a wet-dry vac to work on sweeping it up. I wondered what I should do next to safely dispose of it after I sweep it up? I have plastic coffee jugs. maybe I could use those and tape them shut.

There is still glass in the frame, not much, enough to be a safety concern. Some shards fell while I vac. but when I tried to use the vac. to pull other pieces free, they were secure. I don't want to take the frame out and risk falling pieces cutting me or getting on the carpet.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

1. I'm not sure, but some recycling places take this, but they may not, being that a lot of

safety glass has a thin film on it to keep it from shattering. Your local recycling place would know. I looked online for my area (STLMO), and found that there was one place, but I'm not sure if they are local or not...by the way, they usually don't accept broken glass due to possible injury to workers. I entered my zip code and got an invalid entry. I could use the coffee jugs and take it to hazardous waste next time they have one. At least I have an idea now.

2. Tape over the pieces in the frame

or the entire inside of the glass frame if you want to be sure, then lift it all out.

I went outside to sweep off the entry, and there is a bunch of glass out there, too. I'll try the tape idea next time I work on it. Not a favorite job!
