I started seeds this afternoon.
I have a nice box -- black divided into sections with a plastic cover. I used seed-starter mix. Parsley (lots of parsley, my husband's favorite salad treat), arugula, cilantro, dill and lots of lettuce. I figure I can set the plants out for winter salads. If all goes well, I will grow these veggies in pots, large pots and have my winter garden out good and early.
This is LA, so DUers in other parts of the country have to either already have the winter vegetables in or wait until spring.
I'm just letting you know that spring is around the corner. Here, the dormant season is the really hot period in August and September. My garden does not do well, not well at all in those months. Right now nothing much is happening. So I'm starting to plan my garden for the next year and to plant the winter things.
I'm thinking of starting my tomatoes for next spring from seeds at the end of November. I figure I can get the plants going and let them develop some strength in pots indoors before I even think of putting them out.
Spring will come again. Any advice is welcome. Thanks.
