Bull pizzle chew thingies

They are dried bull penises, sometimes smoked, an alternative to rawhide or those manufactured chew bones.

Does anyone have thoughts on these as I won't get rawhide chews for my dog? I have heard of these, did some reading online and they look more digestible than rawhide.

Any opinions?

I think they are gross and disgusting. They have a unique slime and they stink.

But my dogs get one every couple of months or so.

We don't do the smoked ones.

My nine and a half year old dog that has had lifelong renal problems - and a highly restricted diet - has done ok with these.

Gross as they are, the dogs love them and they are easier to digest than rawhide...they don't swell up in the stomach or intestines. However, you should not allow your dog to chew on these without being present.

I have been giving my pittie girl the biggest Nylabones I can find. She chews and chews and chews and doesn't seem to ever get through them. They disappear in after she leaves them in the yard. I think the coyotes carry them off...
