I am so discouraged. My poor kitty is sick. Cost of treatment? About $1100.00+ or -.

I have shopped around to all local Vets and the price for all tests required to find out what is wrong? About $500.00.
She needs her teeth cleaned and possibly 2 or 3 pulled. Cost for that? $600.00.
It seems there is no alternative. All their prices are about the same. Is there a chart that tells the Vets what to charge?

I love my kitty. She is my special company. I am a widow on Social Security. Very little savings left, my husband died 7 years ago and I lost my job shortly after. I am 74 years old and about ready to give up.
No S.S. cost of living increase to help. The cost of everything has risen to the point that I am panicking.

My kitty comes first. This sure hurts. Lucky I have MasterCard. I'll pay for this forever but I love my kitty and she needs my help.

I take her in tomorrow for all the tests and then see the results. Teeth cleaning comes after the tests, depending on what they find. I hope it is not something that requires even more $$. Don't know how I will cope with this.

My response was to a question of how costly could a feline dental be. All invoices for my cat's dental cleaning and extractions have been above $600 and as high as a bit over $1000. Now though I have confirmed by way of a close business associate that there are indeed low-cost veterinary services available. I had never known of this before. At least there is in my area but I suspect that this is an not-uncommon possibility in many other larger population areas. My friend had two cat sized canines that had suffered with rotten teeth for the last two years. On top of that they both recently contacted the "canine flu" when boarded at the PetSmart Hotel. They were first put on a 3 weeks run on several antibiotics and then last week they were finely taken in for complete dental cleaning with many extractions. The total bill was a little under $300 for both. I couldn't believe it but got the details confirmed now just last Friday. Where I'm located its done by clinics operated by the Animal Welfare Society or Animal Welfare League. There are many animal welfare organizations across the country I imagine. Have you done an exhaustive search for low cost animal clinic services? What are the tests for and are there other existing problems with your cat's health?
