Those 2 were mine. They are missed & loved.
For the ones, dogs, cats, bunnies, birds who went into a shelter/animal control.... May the Angels of Heaven play with you.

(51,590 posts)Thinking of our little ones who are no longer with us. Personally I hate Rainbow Bridge sympathy cards. I know those cards mean well bu they make me more depressed than no Rainbow Bridge "sorry for your loss, he/she will be waiting for you..." card at all.
I guess that your earlier post about depression, possibly due to the political atmosphere and a new year beginning, means that you are not handling today very well. A lot of us are feeling the same way. Actually I read an article that said Americans haven't felt this level of despair in their life time, and this includes people who survived WW2 and the Vietnam War. I am not saying misery loves company but what you are experiencing is the new normal and it sucks. Of course 2017 sucked and 2018 will too, so stay healthy, strong, pace yourself and if you are prepared mentally for some been darker days in the future than you have done your personal best and that is an accomplishment. Don't be hard on yourself. WE ALL KNOW how you feel to varying degrees as we go through this BS day in and day out. It is exhausting...even for the strongest of people.
It will pass! Distract yourself by doing anything that occupies your mind and try to focus on that. Also, DO NOT DRINK today or tonight or you will only feel worse.

(32,971 posts)I got a thank you email from a rescue I donated to. Sobering thought about the ones who didn't make it to a rescue. The 2 ferals living under my porch in the cat winter box in straw & old blankets. They let me ~look~at them, from a distance. I went out this afternoon to put kibble in bowls, so I know some cat is coming by. I am thinking about something of birdbath water heater, so they can drink water.

(6,794 posts)Wouldnt it be wonderful if we could have just one more hour with them. I am thankful every day for the ones still with me. It has been and is a privilege to share my life with all of them.
I am hopeful for the new year. After all we did survive 2017.

(3,867 posts)I adopted her from animal rescue, she was 8 or 9 years old. I only had her for 10 months, she had a cancerous tumor in her intestines.
I had searched & searched for a Turkish name for her, it was Ayşe, pronounced Aysha.
I said I would NEVER go through that again having so many heartbreaks, but then I thought of all the ones that need a home.
I now have a calico, Lola, she was 6 when I adopted her. She is beautiful, smart & a wonderful companion.
