(11,862 posts)poochy, who lived with me for about 10 years garnered ALL my love.
When he died I cried for two days, and still morn his death.
I missed him more than my mother when she died.

(2,860 posts)I was always more of a dog person, but inherited a couple of cats from my mother in law when she passed. Then one followed us home from the dog park...then a couple of ferals had a litter in our neighborhood. I went out and bought a trap for the strays. Fortunately there's a voucher program with the Humane Society in our area. I have been getting them fixed at no charge. I always feel awful when they pass on, but I'm so glad to have them!

(2,860 posts)I actually have 2 dogs and 7 cats right now. Our German Shepherd passed away last year. The other dog looks like a fluffy bear.

(9,824 posts)Lady, the JRT, was a typical terrier, but quickly learned not to bother my cats. A couple of cats came and went in the intervening years, and Dad died, too. Then, my sister moved here about 3 years ago with her 3 cats. Every time we left the house, we always announced "Lady is in charge." She was such a great dog and a great cat protector. She died about this time last year and we miss her sweet presence every day. We will never get another young dog because we are of advanced age ourselves, though we might foster or adopt a senior dog, esp. if they love cats.
Your family is beautiful. Belly rubs to Eightball for being such a good supervisor!

(2,860 posts)Three of them are still very young at only 7 months old. We caught them all when they were only 4 weeks old. He would cry to be let in the room to play with them. At first they would hiss and all run and hide, but then they would slowly come out as curiosity got the better of them. Now they all love on him. I'm sure Lady is up there playing with my Nikki and the late Cisco. My wife and I have decided that when we get older we would foster animals. I don't want to leave this earth and leave behind and critters without a plan for them too.
