Related: About this forumI has a PERMANENT kitten
I rescued a kitten back in August at a job site in Ohio. That story can be found here:

So we've had her, or she's had us, for six months. Now this skin and bones little bundle of joy has a fat little belly! She's such the treat hog! We (I) named her Bootsy after James Brown/Pfunk/Parliament bass player Bootsy Collins. Unfortunately, after a few weeks, she got to know her surroundings and her new brothers and sister. Consequently, she's not nearly as affectionate as she was when I brought her home. Ya kinda have to chase her around the house to give her the lovin. Although, since she's been fixed, you don't have to chase her for nearly as long.
Anyway, at her latest checkup, the vet told us her adult teeth were coming in. Apparently, lack of food before I found her stunted her growth. She's as big as she's going to get. And she's "FUN SIZE". We have a permanent kitten. I feel bad for her, but how can you not love the perma-kitten, right?
Vet also told us she has feline HIV. Bummer. But, she's now an inside Kitty and has no interest in the outside. Hopefully, being inside all the time will protect her weakened immune system from getting sick.....

(11,800 posts)I'm literally tearing up with joy. Got online when we found out and it didn't sound like she'd have a very long life. Don't know anyone witg FIV positive cats and the vet never gives you real answers. That's not exactly fair. I guess I mean they lay out worse case scenario so you're prepared. That's great, but you just don't know.
Thanks, sinking. Your experience really gives me hope that I'll be able to love her for a good long time!

(51,457 posts)they were all FIV. He wanted to put them all down!!
My boys were all feral and just showed up at my house and stayed. They spend most of their time either in my cellar or on one of my 4 porches.
Yes, I realize that if they should bite another cat, the disease could be transmitted. But they don' t leave my property. They have a couple of acres to buffer them from others. So far I've not seen any strange cats around.

(23,981 posts)...female, Mocha, is pretty much a permanent kitten. She only weighed a pound and a half when we adopted her. She has weighed as much as 6.5 pounds, but is currently just under 6. Little tiny head, and huge pale blue eyes. She has the tabby "M" on her head, and her little stripey legs look like she is wearing soccer socks. She still chases her tail.
This link is from Cat of the Day, and is not my cat, but looks like her twin.
