immediately after finishing she'd be awarded the dish or bowl to lick out (and I typically leave more than just a bit of residue). She knows she will get it, so she's become content. That's why we have automated dishwashers after all, right?... and no pre-rinsing needed.

she knew that if she laid under the table, sooner or later one of those kids was going to drop something and she would be right there to snatch it up.

We never eat a bite without the company of our two girls........they don't beg but they are as close to the table as possible, just in case!!! We are so fortunate to have them.
