My dog has cushings

and I have been treating it with trilostane which worked for a few years. Now his ability to tolerate the drug has reached its limit. He got rather sick a few weeks ago and had to be hospitalized for a couple of days. I eventually got his appetite completely back and starting giving him the drug again and within days his appetite tanked. I got him back to eating his full supply of food but am not starting him on this drug again. So, does anyone have any experience with Cushings in dogs? If so, what have you tried that worked?

I am of course going to also go to my vet but I am convinced the drug is the problem and it would take a lot to unconvince me of that.

diabetes, lupus, and was hypothyroid. Talk to your vet as there may be newer treatments.

Here's a good source of information and support:

5. You need a specialist. If you have a vet endocrinologist in your area seek them out.

Second choice would be a veterinarian college. My dog has the opposite of Cushings, Addisons, and she has been doing great on her medicines for over 10 years. My vet stays up to date on the latest in Addison's research. Shortly after her diagnosis, I took her to Colorado University School of Veterinarian Medicine in Fort Collins, which is only a 45-minute drive for me, for a second opinion and they were absolutely wonderful. They did a comprehensive exam and blood work. They confirmed my vet was treating her appropriately. Since it was a teaching clinic the cost was a lot less than I expected and I later sent them an additional donation.

Good luck. It is so nerve-racking when our babies are sick. Please let me know how he is doing.

Hugs and healing vibes your doggo's way.
