Related: About this forumMaybee got spayed today.
It was a hard day for her
the vet said she howled unless a tech held her in their lap while she came out of anesthesia. Maybee had a designated staff person with her until I picked her up. The cone of shame is a disaster
she flails like a crazy person if she has to wear it. The t-shirt works way better
it covers her belly so she cant worry her stitches. I just gave her a pain pill and will take her out to potty before snuggling her into bed with me. So glad this day is behind us.

(51,590 posts)and I had to look for her in my tiny apt. I found her sitting between the curtains and the wall in a stupor.

(31,992 posts)Even though its whats best for her, its tough for us dog moms to see them in pain. I hope shes feeling much better tomorrow.
The T shirt is a great idea!

I like the T shirt idea, seems less traumatizing.

(23,314 posts)Although, she still hates it. My son went through his t shirt drawer for 15 minutes before he found one he thought looked cute on her.

(16,389 posts)She looks adorable in it, too, which is a nice plus.
I don't blame animals one bit for hating those cones. I wouldn't want to wear one, either.

(86,591 posts)Those are such amazing dogs. I've known more than a few of them. I think they're Montana's State Dog aren't they?
MontanaMama
(23,314 posts)I didnt know MT had a state dog!
Ive always had border collies
something about the organized chaos of their personalities that speaks to me. Theyre smart and sweet tempered and such good companions
and they keep me moving outside and in the hills. Not a bad thing.

(205,320 posts)When my little Jack got neutered (and he was a year old since he kept being treated for heath issues before that), he had to wear "the cone of shame" and kept bumping into things. *sigh* I finally tried crating him and bringing the crate right where we (including his best doggy pal who lay down right next to the crate) were sitting - but fortunately he didn't have to wear it long. Your idea is better... Wishing her a return to good heath soon.

(12,213 posts)We found a stray Pomeranian many years ago. Someone dumped her off at a dumpster at a mall. Fur was missing from flea alergies, but she was a wonderful sweetheart. And she eventually turned into a gorgeous long-nosed Pomeranian with lots of fur.
She wasn't spayed, so we had to get it done.
It was so sad leaving her with the vet, she looked at me like I was abandoning her.
But she was her cheerful silly self when I picked her up (albeit a little drowsy).
