He gave me antibiotics and eye drops for them. Seems I was right to be concerned about the closed eye. I bring them back in 2 weeks for the de worming medication.
Other than that, they are in great health. He couldn't find any fleas but I'm still bathing them, today. And he seems to think I'm on the right track with the feedings and eventual introduction to the boys. Which will be separated by the mesh in the pet playpen. For now.
As for the genders - I was spot on! The striped and the gray are boys (Arthur and Dewi. Both of the black kittens are girls (Bronwyn and Gwen).
More pictures later. I'm on a short break before it's time to feed them, again, and then bath time. It's 9:40 and I'm already in need of a nap!

(57,073 posts)So are they inside kitties now?
Thx, too, for the update!

(26,268 posts)I'll get them nice and socialized, and the (HOPEFULLY) find good homes for the ones I don't keep. It's tempting to keep them all, but I know my limitations!!
They are eating better, every time I feed them. I'm sure it was just getting accustomed to the 'delivery system'. And they tolerated the eye drops and anti biotics better than I anticipated.
Hope I can say the same about the flea bath!!

(17,259 posts)those helpless kitties need a healthy mama to look after them.

(26,268 posts)I'm hoping that at least ONE of them is the kind of kitten that doesn't mind water. At least their little claws won't do that much damage.
They are putting their tiny teeth to work on my fingers. Maybe they want meat added to the menu??

(26,268 posts)But now that I know I wasn't over reacting to what I saw with 2 of the kittens eyes, it's worth the sleep depravation, time and money to take care of them.
Honestly, taking in and socializing feral kittens is one of the most satisfying things I've ever done. I love watching them change, grow and learn.

(32,864 posts)We fostered three kittens during COVID. We ended up keeping 2. Socializing them is very important. You are such an exceptional human.

(26,268 posts)Funny that I find this knack for 'kitten whispering' at this time of life. Good timing, though. I have all the time in the world and far more patience with felines than with humans.

(231 posts)I must admit, youre one of the reasons I finally joined DU. Sure, I saw all the pix from your earlier litter but I just knew you werent done and I wanted to be here to see. Thank you for loving and caring for these precious babies. Too many people just ignore animals when theyre in need. Youre an exceptional loving human.

(26,268 posts)And it's funny. Just before I first saw these kittens I had been thinking 'I should probably think about buying some kitten milk and check to see how many cans of pate for kittens I have left, just in case.'
The boys now want 'meaty bits' wet food but I still have 6 cans of the pate, for starters.
I told the vet that I'm going to double check what kind of fertilizer I'm using because it seems to help produce a yearly crop of garden kittens! Last year it was the squash patch. This year the Day Lily garden.
And, of course, WELCOME TO DU!!!!

(26,268 posts)They are wonderful distractions, keeping my attention focused on something positive. I have to force myself to NOT just sit next to the pet play pen, watching and playing with them.
