Spooky almost got 'flattened', this morning. Worst of all, by ME!!

I had to make an early morning run to pick up kibble for the ferals. The roads are snow covered and I was worried they were also slippery so I was driving with extreme caution. The road along the east side to my house is a decline and that's the side where I feed the ferals.

All of a sudden I saw a black bundle of fur dash out IN FRONT OF MY CAR!!! I knew no matter what I did - swerve or hit the brakes - she could also swerve right back into the path of a tire and/or I could lose control of the car. So I tapped the brakes and held my breath.

I know you understand my relief that she dashed just fast enough for me to miss her, and by just inches!!!

She didn't come out when I took out the food. She's probably terrified.

Not the best way to start my week, that's for sure, but it could have been SO much worse.

She'll come around. Although I'd hate to hear what she's saying about your driving to the other Puddys

2. I hate driving, especially in the Winter. I'm just glad I was on 'high alert'.

It made me wonder if she recognized my car and knew food was on the way. She's not a part of Skittish's cluster of kitcats so she dens somewhere across the street. The other ferals have a path worn from their den site, beneath the neighbor's deck and shrubs.

Fortunately there seems to be no ice beneath the snow. The street was plowed after the last snow and this storm left much less accumulation than was in the forecast.

Don’t know why I’m always so glad to see the little guy. I’m glad your episode worked out, there are so many squirrels in this neighborhood that try to commit suicide under my wheels I have to be careful

4. I had thought about waiting until after I fed them to pick up more kibble

BUT Gryff isn't food of wet food, and likes the Kit and Kaboodle kibble that I feed the ferals. He's not too crazy about the 'higher quality' kibble so I wanted to keep what little was left of the K&K for him, to mix IN with the other kibble. That seems to work.

Gryff always seems to prefer which EVER food I buy for the ferals.

Oh well. I've got a 35lb bag of 'complete' kibble in the pantry so I should be good, for a while.

He’s getting big and I might need to get him on something low-cal.
