Arrest made after garbage collectors find live puppy in Flint

(Side note: My therapist told me about this. He had talked to the man who found the puppy.)

FLINT, Mich. (WJRT) - An arrest has been made after a 2-week-old puppy was pulled from the back of a garbage truck in Flint last week.

Two Priority Waste employees found the puppy in the back of their garbage truck Wednesday morning. They were on their usual route when they noticed movement in a bag thrown into the truck.

The workers opened the bag and discovered a 2-week-old pit bull puppy inside.

The Genesee County Sheriff's Office confirmed on Friday that a suspect was arrested when investigators look into how the puppy ended up on the curb.

"The dog is doing better. Still not out of the woods yet from what Dr. Traverse tells me, but it's well on its way to recovery," Swanson said. "And I believe the gentleman that found it is trying to adopt it."

The CEO of Priority Waste is taking care of the medical bills for the young puppy.

hungry, in the dark, scary sound, movement. It's little eyes and ears were barely open!! One of the ancient law codes, not Hammurabi's, made it a CAPITAL offense to kill a female dog... dogs had real financial consequence. But nowadays pets are just as valuable to some of us emotionally. I hope MI has some tough animal cruelty laws.

until a sufficient number of animals are adopted/rescued. If that doesn't happen, they start euthanizing. There are abandoned animals in the community around the shelter. The folks in MTG's district aren't too big on sp/neutering their pets.

throwing them off a bridge so they drowned? /s

And before anyone gets in huff, that was definitely meant as extreme sarcasm. That "old fashioned way" of getting rid any animal(s) was (and is) sick as hell.

The owner could have found a home for the puppy or could have taken it to a shelter or have called a rescue group.

Hope they throw the book at him.

They found the puppy in a garbage bag on the roadside, so the bag may have come from anywhere.
