PA High School Students Organize "Anti-Gay" Day

Daily Kos

Located somewhere between Squeellikeapig and Yougotapurtymouth, Pennsylvania (the political "T" between Philadelphia and Pittsburgh that we call "Pennsyltucky&quot a group of clearly closeted self-hating students in McGuffey High School in Claysville, PA organize an "Anti-Gay Day" in retaliation to the National Day of Silence protesting LGBT bullying in schools.

From G-Philly...

A student named Ashley, wrote to G Philly saying that organizers of the anti-gay movement asked students to wear flannel shirts and write “anti-gay” on their hands if they opposed the LGBT community. “Stickers and flyers are also being placed around the school and on queer kids’ lockers that read ‘ANTI-GAY,’ she wrote. “This movement is a retaliation of the Day Of Silence that was set in place to remember people whose lives have ended due to LQBTIA bullying. The ‘Anti-Gay’ club, to begin with, is an obvious sign of bullying and discrimination. These kids need help. We are all people and we all deserve to be treated as such. ”

Then I turned out to be gay. At the time I thought I'd "grow out of it" as the available books said. Didn't happen.

Boy scout manual said stay away from it, but it was rampant in the scouts, most of whom, of course, grow up to be married with kids. And the Scouts' founder seemed very interested in boys in more ways than militarizing them.

I suspect that's where lots of cons get the idea that "it's a choice," since they "gave it up" and started chasing girls at 15 or later. It's just a part of growing up, experimenting, comparing development, wondering what comes next, etc.
