Norwalk man gets two years for self-defense shooting

STAMFORD -- A Norwalk man who shot three men while trying to defend himself from local gang members in South Norwalk, and was subsequently picked up with a pistol while out on bond, was sentenced Tuesday to two years in jail.

Christopher Entzminger-Joyner, 22, of Taylor Avenue, pleaded guilty in November to illegal discharge of a firearm and carrying a pistol without a permit.

In November, Entzminger-Joyner's attorney Steven DeLeo said his client was being attacked by a gang of youths when he pulled out a gun and shot at the attackers.

His other attorney Mark Sherman said on Tuesday that Entzminger-Joyner has accepted responsibility and is looking forward to moving on with his life.

2. Fiat Bags Chrysler

Fiat, owner of Chrysler Group, has agreed to buy the United Auto Workers' remaining 41.46% stake in Chrysler for $3.65 billion, plus four separate payments totaling $700 million.

The agreement, announced Wednesday, heads off a public stock offering of Chrysler shares that Fiat and Chrysler didn't want, but the UAW was forcing, in order to set a value on its stake.

It puts to an end months of cantankerous wrangling between the union and automakers about the value of the retirement trust's shares. And it's happened suddenly, in an unexpected way, as firm plans had been announced late last year for the IPO.

Fiat previously bought out the stake held by Canadian governments, so once the current deal closes, Fiat and Chrysler can be merged into a single company. No details have been hinted about where a merged automaker would have headquarters, nor whether a full merger would change product plans or management teams.

Something here does not make sense. If the other charges were dropped due to him having "a compelling self-defense claim", how can he be charged with "illegal discharge of a weapon"? Does South Norwalk not have a self defense exception to its "illegal discharge of a weapon" law?
