Louisiana man shoots and kills man who woke him by banging on neighbor’s door

Police charged a Louisiana man who fatally shot another man who awoke him by banging on a neighbor’s door. Ray Carlos was awoken about 3 a.m. Sunday by loud noise outside the home of a woman across the street from his Houmas home. Police said the 58-year-old Carlos confronted 29-year-old James Rube, who had been trying to contact his ex-girlfriend inside the home.

During the confrontation, Carlos fired one gunshot, which struck Rube in the head and killed him. Carlos then called 911 to report the shooting, and medical crews found Rube dead on the sidewalk. Officers arrested Carlos on second-degree murder charges.

If convicted, he faces 15 years to life in prison.
