22 People Shot in 12 Hours in Chicago
A 10-year-old girl may be braindead after a stray bullet fired into her home and hit her in the head around 9:35 p.m. on Friday. A 12-year-old was shot in the same neighborhood when she, a 33-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man were approached by someone they didn’t know who fired at them. In total, 22 people were shot in Chicago between about 3:30 p.m. and 3 a.m. It’s been a bloody month for the city—over the long Fourth of July weekend alone, another 82 gunshot victims were reported.

Because they're scary and I don't understand them.
If you would take a moment to research where those 22 deaths occurred, you'd find several common denominators, factors without which there would be no such incidents (poverty, drugs, despair).
Guns are available in other parts of the state, other parts of the city of Chicago- why no shootings there?
Look to those common denominators for the solutions, because your "no more guns" solution will still leave the poverty and despair and deaths.
Stop with the totalitarian solutions already.

That will assure that the law abiding gun carriers, the ones with actual FOID cards and carry permits, will stay away.
The fact that Rahm has siphoned off tens of millions of $ has nothing to do with it I'm sure 
for his charter school buddies instead of hiring cops to replace retirees so patrol cars in the rougher neighborhoods are now single cop cars, no partners or back up.
But expect another "Guns we've taken off the street" press conference in the next week or two. Problem is the media finally took a closer look at those "crime guns" and found the tags were all 2 and 3 years old and had been used for media events several times
