Gun Control & RKBA
Related: About this forumThe mass killing the Controllers never told us about
Every time there is a tragedy the Controllers consider it their personal, moral duty to share it with us. We are to be made to feel the shame and regret that attends the loss of life from such wholly preventable tragedies as only they claim to feel it. To put forth any comment short of penitent self-flagellation over the human toll is to confess a heartlessness -- nay, soullessness -- that disqualifies the unrepentant from all future discourse.
Today, in the city of Denver, a trial moves into the penalty phase for a capital murder case in which the convicted killed 5 people. Five is more than the 4 killed in Chattanooga last week and better than half the number killed in Charleston (the perpetrator ran out of victims on the premises). Obviously we were informed of these tragedies immediately and are to be reminded for as long as they can remember. Yet, I cannot recall any mention of this crime from the Controller side that insists, in the name of human decency, we grant our full attention to every mass murder perpetrated in the US.
Why were we not informed?

(5,455 posts)I recognize the hypocrisy of the gun control side's view that only gun murders are important to them. Going by the posts here on DU none of them ever seem to care about the other roughly 30% of murders committed with something other then a gun and they never seem to care when it's people in the inner cities and other troubled urban areas dying.

Your OP has nothing to do with firearms or gun control, outside of a poor attempt to smear Democrats who support gun control.

Is this the true nature of your objection?

(19,497 posts)semi-auto long gun?
Yet, those who support gun control much of their effort focuses on semi-auto long guns. Supposedly this need to ban the mislabeled "assault rifle" comes from a desire to reduce the number of mass killings. But here is a mass killing perpetrated without a semi-auto long gun.
If you want to discuss percentages can you explain the disproportionate amount of attention paid to semi-auto long guns?

Well no, not really. It's just a figure of speech called

You know they type- they are all about the guns(z), other forms of homicide are unimportant or even the victim's fault. All data which indicates guns are used in self-defense is "NRA propaganda"- even when it come from the FBI or CDC. There is no bad gun control proposal because it might save one life- even if it increases the overall number of victims of violent crime.
The leaders are easily recognized- they tend to be rich, have armed bodyguards, live in gated communities with armed guards and support opposing Democrats who are not loyal enough in backing gun control- replacing them with Republicans as a side effect.
They also assure us mass murder by means other than a gun never happens.
If I may respectfully offer a criticism- your claim this OP lacks relevance would carry more weight if you did something about off topic posts in the group you host.
Just this month for example:

being an nra gunut is a complete non-sequiter to the issue of water theft

poster is a fellow host who admits it is meta and outside the SoP of the group but graciously gives himself a pass.
and before you claim there is nothing you can do about a fellow host, I direct your attention to the heading Hosts under About This Group
It is quite ironic you are willing to try and police this group while ignoring hosts violating SoP in your own group.

Would it have pained you terribly if one of the patrons in Fero's had been armed with a gun and thus sent the criminals running?

Gun owners? That is all gun owners are murderers
Criminals? You are accusing NU of being a criminal
