NRA, gun industry once again mine profit from paranoia

In the health-care debate, we’ve all watched as the proudest single accomplishment of a self-described “severely conservative” Republican governor has somehow been transformed into proof of Marxist intent once that same plan was adopted by a Democratic president.

It’s political alchemy at its best. In fact, as testimony to the power of propaganda, that one’s hard to beat. It reminds us that if people really want to believe something — even something manifestly ridiculous, illogical and countermanded by facts — they will still find a way to do so.

But this example of that same phenomenon comes in a close second:

“Gun sales are soaring nationwide and retailers say that’s not unusual to see during a presidential election year. “Basically the situation you have now is 2008 all over again,” said Steven B. Drew, owner of Georgia Gun and Loan.

The same people that use this board, posting anecdotal crime stories and articles like this, that support more gun control and outright bans of guns of pretty much every type ... are the same ones that claim gun owners are being paranoid about anyone demanding a gun ban.

How does that work?

Especially when you know the demand in tactical weapons is fueled by hatred of Obama. But some folks will take advantage of anything to make a buck.

Did not make a buck.

I did have some old guns from my dad -- like an 1870s Evans Repeater, British Enfield with a bore the size of a golf ball, etc.. Sold them on internet site to help my mother before she died.

I do not buy lethal weapons like our buddy above with intention of selling them in a back alley when fear escalates.

Any thing else you need to know?

Corporate greed; unnecessary but legal levels of pollution; flying confederate flags; displaying swastikas; etc.; are all legal -- but not moral or ethical.

But, I've found that folks -- most often right wingers -- hide behind the law and take it to the very limit when they can profit from it.

People all over the world strive to get to our shores to take advantage of our freedoms.

I don't sell a lot of guns, although my wife wishes I would. I have 4 large safes and she wants the room.

The basement is taken up with my five reloading presses and my drums. She shouldn't bitch. One of them is hers and she uses my safe for her guns.....the ones she put into a safe.

I want a nice target 22 pistol that I can put a red dot on.

A 22lr upper for super fun plinking family time.

Last but not least and probably next, a revolver for my lovey wife's CC safety device.

None of the are fueled by the NRA....

Of course I still need a p220, p226, coach gun, 6.8 upper, and a nice 357 revolver. Those will have to wait for next year.

Most fun that I've had with my clothes on. Only grips is that it takes 4 minutes to load the mag and 15 seconds to unload it.

I got the Mag-Pul model. Put a Tru-Glo red dot and a Laser-Max laser on it.

Cheap practice for my Bushmaster. Only difference is that I have a EoTech 512 on the Bushy.

And with an unexpected 5-figure bonus I'll be able to fast track that list and be done by Christmas...

I'd get a Ruger 22/45 with the 4" bull bbl. They come with a rail for attaching such sights (I got an inexpensive BSA for mine) and it's a fun plinker. Took just a few shots to get it zeroed for 15 yards and it's consistently dead on no matter what brand .22LR I run in it. Make sure you get a gun rope to clean it unless you like the challenge of taking it apart. I just use that and some fast blast and it's ready to go for next time.
