The numbers look population dependent. CA, TX, NY in descending order. NY has pretty strict gun laws. So does MA. Vermont is virtually unregulated but also has a tiny population.

DC's population is about the same as Vermont's but higher than Wyoming. USVI has a much smaller population.

(13,419 posts)Several red states like AZ, GA, LA have higher per capita numbers than CA. The New England states generally have the lowest per capita numbers per region. I'll let people draw their own conclusions from that.

Vermont has the laxest gun laws in the US. New Hampshire isn't too far behind.
DC and USVI top Wyoming, Vermont, in both total numbers and per capita.
