Related: About this forumWhat does NYPD do with it's range brass?
It sells it to online ammo sellers in Georgia.

My comment,

(10,136 posts)did not already have an arrangement with the company that supplies the rounds in the first place.
Makes good sense to sell to the highest bidder.

(35,348 posts)it for scrap. It's not like if it wasn't for NYPD brass there wouldn't be any ammo available.

(54,770 posts)At least, that's one of the irrational arguments gun culture uses to oppose micro-stamping and other attempts to track guns used in crime.

(911 posts)what would be the point?

(5,417 posts)if Microstamping was used, the stamp would go on the primer. The primer is removed and replaced with a brand new primer when ammo is reloaded.
ManiacJoe
(10,136 posts)Scooping up microstamped brass fired elsewhere and leaving at the scene of a shooting is about polluting the results of microstamped guns used by the Bad Guys.

(2,239 posts)Agent Provocateur? Nothing new to see here. Complete ignorance of modern technology and the complete failure of NY's ballistic fingerprinting database. Not one single murder solved with it.
I swear some of these people are hired by the NRA to make the antis look like total loons.
