El Paso restaurant manager part of arms-trafficking network

A restaurant manager in El Paso was part of a sophisticated arms-trafficking network that netted the biggest bust in the U.S. government's Operation Fast and Furious, according to private emails disclosed by WikiLeaks.

In 2009 the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives launched the controversial operation that allowed straw purchasers to buy firearms at U.S. gun stores. Under the operation -- designed to identify gun-trafficking masterminds -- the weapons were permitted to cross the border.

&quot Twenty) people were arrested and 34 total indictments" came from the Fast and Furious investigation and arrests executed on Jan. 25, said Stratfor analyst Fred Burton in an email to fellow analyst Marko Papic. "A big deal. The investigation started thanks to intel that we shared with ATF."

The 2011 email is not clear on who tipped off the ATF about the gun smuggling ring led by Manuel Solis Acosta, who was arrested in 2011 on arms-trafficking charges.

Do the Delicate Flowers in the gungeon call this guy a "law-abiding citizen" or a "dirty criminal who makes it harder for us Delicate Flowers to keep our arsenals"?

Too many gun-relgionists were getting their ultra-sensitive selves all riled up at my terminology. Very, very sensitive and easily-hurt "tough guys".

So I borrowed Tom Tomorrow's name for the people who are too scared to walk out the door without a gun.

Initially, one of the suspects detained in Juárez told Mexican officials that Aztecas leaders ordered the hits as revenge for the mistreatment of one of their members at the El Paso County Jail.

Phil Jordan, former director of the El Paso Intelligence Center, was given another theory: the gang was angry that the U.S. Consulate granted visas to rivals.

So was it a good thing that the ATF allowed guns to make it to the cartels and gangs or not?

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Federal agents arrested the mayor of New Jersey's capital early Monday as part of an ongoing corruption investigation into bribery allegations related to a parking garage project that was concocted as part of an FBI sting operation.

Trenton Mayor Tony Mack, his brother Ralphiel and convicted sex offender Joseph Giorgianni, a Mack supporter who owns a Trenton sandwich shop, were accused of conspiring to obstruct, delay and affect interstate commerce by extortion under color of official right.Federal prosecutors alleged Mack agreed to use his influence in connection with a proposed parking garage in the city. The garage was made up — a fake project created by investigators to try to capture Mack, who has financial problems and attracted legal scrutiny since he took office.

U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman said at a news conference Monday that the city-owned land for the garage was assessed at $271,000. He said Mack and Giorgianni agreed to accept $100,000 for the land for the city coffers — as long as the purported developers paid a bribe of $100,000 to be split between the two alleged conspirators.

Diana washington valdez is a well known gun control advocate in the El Paso area, hardly an unbiased source but exactly what everyone here has come to expect from you.

You can expect more posts in the future with liberal and progressive opinions. After all, this website is devoted to Democratic views and Democrats support reasonable regulation of firearms.

Democratic means diverse and big tent. I'm also wondering what "reasonable" means.
