Hoover says people are scrambling to get a gun in case they aren't allowed to anymore, and one day after President Obama's re-election sales shot up.
"We sold everything," said Hoover. "If I hadn't been nailed down they would have sold me."
The president has said a number of times he's not looking to take people's guns away, but assault weapons don't belong on the streets. Otherwise, President Obama believes the Second Amendment should be protected.
Guns and ammo aren't the only items seeing increases in sales. Heartland also had a record number of people sign up for a concealed carry permit.
"We sold out an entire class in a matter of an hour and a half," said Hoover. "That's never happened before."

Here we go again. I bet the gun manufacturers were secretly donating to the Obama campaign. And for another four years the NRA will scare people with "Obama the gungrabber" who hasn't grabbed any guns.

(2,966 posts)I was in a shop shortly after the election in 2008. The employees were like "we don't have anything in stock, goddam Obama." I'm thinking, what, is the inventory your own personal museum? Don't you want to sell them and make money? NRA's craziness is great for the manufacturers and the shops, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if manufacturers contributed to Obama's victory.

(2,477 posts)Pres. Obama seems to be stimulating the economy by the false claims that he's going to take away our guns. You can't make this shit up.

(2,966 posts)The guns are selling themselves. Half a dozen guys at the shop employed just taking your order and telling you the next shipment is coming in next week, pay your deposit now, start your DROS now, etc., and there they are bitching about selling out as soon as the shipment comes in. Maybe they'd be happier if they didn't get paid? IDK

(5 posts)Hasn't grabbed any guns yet. Comprehensive gun reform? No spank you. There are a lot of good deals on ammo right now nonetheless. I'm not republican and I'm not democrat either. I will continue to reserve the right to keep and bear arms and protect myself and my family if the time ever comes. I will say this on every post. YOU are responsible for YOUR own protection. The police are not your bodyguards.
I am not for a gun ban, I am for gun safety training and education.

(18,318 posts)JFK was a lifetime member of the NRA, and Hubert Humphrey, at one time the leading liberal in the Party, said this about the Second Amendment:
"Certainly one of the chief guarantees of freedom under any government, no matter how popular and respected, is the right of the citizens to keep and bear arms. . . . The right of the citizens to bear arms is just one more guarantee against arbitrary government, one more safeguard against tyranny, which now appears remote in America, that historically has proven to be always possible." - Sen. Hubert H. Humphrey

That in Guns Magazine, Feb., 1960.
The term "gun-control" didn't even appear in the Democratic Party Platform before the Zombies had charted most of their hits; that is, before 1968. Such a pop-up "issue" with such a short history. But the gun-controllers did have one indisputable accomplishment:
They created the modern N.R.A.

Gun manufacturers secretly donating to Obama.
I am being sarcastic and cynical. I am pointing out that Obama being re-elected is good for their business.
"Obama the gun grabber" who hasn't grabbed any guns.
I am pointing out that the NRA uses Obama as a boogey man, even though he hasn't pushed for any gun control legislation. They will continue to use him in their fund raising letters. For them, a strong pro-gun president would be a financial disaster as they wouldn't have an enemy to point at, although Obama hasn't been much of an enemy these last four years.
In what way are those offensive?

It's a farging news story you idiot and I found his comments funny, so you are wrong.
YOU don't like his comments, I, OTOH, like his comments. Try not to speak for the rest of us.
