Smith & Wesson, Ruger stocks jump after Obama win

http://www.latimes.com/business/money/la-fi-mo-gun-sales-smith-wesson-obama-20121107,0,5868311.story

While investors moping over President Barack Obama’s reelection sent the Dow spiraling down more than 300 points Wednesday morning, one sector is seeing a surge: gun manufacturing.

Firearms maker Smith & Wesson Holding Corp. surged 10.8% to $10.48 a share in morning trading, more than double its price at the beginning of the year.

Sturm, Ruger & Co. Inc. got a 6.4% boost to $47.48 a share, a 39% increase from early January

SNIP

In October, the number of firearms background checks performed on potential gun buyers jumped 18.4%, according to the FBI, as cited by Benchmark Research. The data is considered to be a leading indicator for future gun sales.

10.8% overnight jump! 18.4% October jump in NICS checks! Wow! That is a lot of guns being purchased. Each of those people is investing a few hundred dollars in a gun, or thousands in several guns. Those people will have a strong interest in keeping those guns and will be ready to fight against any gun control legislation.

Has anybody seen any jump in Brady or VPC enrollment?

Law abiding people owning or even hoarding firearms and ammunition is not a problem for anyone.

Private ownership of firearms is a liberal and progressive value.

I come to read stuff, post stuff, laugh at stuff, and mostly have a good time. I don't enjoy arguing, especially with fellow Democrats. I think guns, abortion, religion, and ... I'm sure there are others ... where 'never the twain shall meet'. You've got your opinions, I've got mine. Glad that we both vote Dem., but it stops there. I DO NOT want to argue about guns with anyone. Period.

Yes, there are a few groups set up specifically to be non-contentious. This isn't one of those few.

Echo-chambers are boring. If you state an opinion around here (not just in the GC&RKBA group), be prepared to have it examined and pulled apart to see what makes it tick. I'm utterly baffled that anyone with almost 3000 posts hasn't figured that out yet...

There are more humorous comments, attaboy comments, I-agree-with-that comments, or maybe I should say, more comments about who or what the OP was about, not anything against a fellow commenter. And re: my almost-3000 posts, at least half if not more were 4 years ago before the last election. I've been humongously busy between then and now.

Obama isn't running for reelection so you may have a fight on your hands. Here in CA we have a Dem super majority in both houses so there is no threat from the right.
You've just seen how demographics has begun to make the right irrelevant. Just saying.

Surely you remember this thread, where you said:

Three more innocent people shot today in FL by a previously law abiding gun owner.

Look what we found and posted:

And you never came back to acknowledge it. What happened to your assertation in that thread? Where did you go?

In that thread you asserted something that was obviously and ultimately proven absolutely false.

You seem to have a penchant for disappearing when one of your made up facts is exposed.

As a result many of us will have to just assume pretty much everything you post, without a link or supportable cite, is pure BS and we'll give it all the consideration it deserves.

But feel free to run up to Meta and join the "Whine and Cheesy" crowd.
