Police arrived at the scene to find two men with gunshot wounds. Both were sent to the hospital in critical condition where one of them later died.

An investigation revealed the alleged robbers approached two men in a parking lot at gunpoint and demanded their wallets and other valuables.

“The suspects found out they were at the wrong car and became a little agitated, pulled a pistol out and raised the pistol up,” said HPD Sgt. James Devereaux. “One of the complainants or victims had a Concealed Handgun License. He was able to obtain his pistol and defend himself and his friend.”

A witness said the third suspect managed to get away but not before he was hit by a passing car.

No charges are expected against the shoter but he was taken in for questioning.

No innocent bystanders hit. Driminal already has gun out, CHLer shoots two, appears to have restrained from shooting at the fleeing robber who gets hit by a car anyway. I guess he was running away too fast to look before he crossed traffic.

It happened at an apartment complex on Medfield near Dairy Ashford at about 10pm Tuesday. According to investigators, a 23-year-old man had arrived home from work and was talking to a neighbor in the parking lot of the apartment complex. Both men were then approached by three suspects, two of whom were armed with pistols. The suspects ordered both victims to give up their wallets, cell phones and keys to their vehicles.

Police say when the suspects saw the victims had little money, they threatened to kill them. One of the victims, a concealed handgun license holder, pulled out his own weapon and shot two of the suspects. The third suspect, described only as a black male, fled the scene in an unknown direction.

The above excerpt is the assessment. An analysis by most anyone old enough to read and write would conclude that the problem here is that a robbery/assault is in progress. We now have a perspective on the actual problem rather than a straw-man provided for some off topic interest. Pursuing a "solution' for the problem leads one to consider possible actions. Most generally there are only three possible responses to an immediate and close threat: submission, retreat and counterattack. Submission, while not a violent option, doesn't guarantee that violence will not be continued by those assailants who've already presented violence in this encounter. Often the objective of reducing the pool of witnesses is pursued to the death of the victims. Retreats from close proximity threats are impossible to coordinate and will often precipitate more violence from your assailants. If more than one victim is present, the slower reacting victim will be set upon by the assailants. Counterattack is favored by the FBI and others (Josh Sugarmann, for one) who advocate self-defense with a weapon noting that the more deadly the weapon the better the victims generally fair.

A logical and carefully considered reaction to the situation dictates only one course most safe for all victims. That course is to shoot and kill the bastards.
