Haberman (NYT) excuses Trump's attack on the press

Haberman today has perhaps her biggest roll-over to the president, excusing his use of "fake news" to attack the press.

First, note that Haberman now has a deal to write a book about Trump, and so needs access to the President. She can't afford to offend him.
Second, her mom is a PR exec who's done work for the Kushners.
And we all know the backstory - the endless stories by Haberman on HRC's emails.

Now back to today:

Trump: "Despite the fake news media..."
Haberman: "This is among the most pointed statements he's made as POTUS to tell ppl what they're seeing on TV isn't real"

Eric Garland tells it like it is.

Another comment on Haberman:

The NYT is a pillar of American public discourse, and the paper of record. That's why it's so important they remove bias like this from access journalism.

The Times needs a serious public self-examination of their role in the 2016 election and how they spread false scandals about HRC. And the Times needs to get Haberman out, at minimum while she's writing this book.

The Times has done some really good work exposing Trump's corruption, but Haberman is a disgrace.

And that's her whole career. It shows. She needs to do some different work, get outside the sphere of influence of her parents, and learn about how important it is that she tell the truth, not just be starstruck by the president.

She's just running a business, and she understands how the money gets made.

People apply the word "journalism" to the news business and think it's some sort of "public service" or something. Please. Maggie Haberman is in the business of producing a product for sale. That's all any so-called "journalist" is ever doing. Journalists will get into the business of producing "the truth" only at such time as they think there's a market for it. Seems to me that sales are pretty thin at the moment.

This is strikes me as typical self-promotion. The only "star" she's struck with is herself. Ms. Maggie is the subject of this photo, not the airplane.

This type isn't in the "truth" business, is my point. Never has been. Never will be.

An incredibly emotional day for anyone with an ounce of humanity . And that was the best Haberman could do. No outrage, nada ,nil, none.

More from Jay:

"Maggie claims she takes Trump's attacks on the press seriously. That's a lie, as you can see in her post above."

"Because Maggie's form of "journalism" is all about her-her access, her book deal, her celebrity, her article clicks."

"Maggie is everything that's wrong with journalism today, & she knows it. She just doesn't give a shit if you do too."

And from Eric:

"To tell people what they're seeing; DESOLATION AND DEATH - isn't real while he's on his golf course? "

Haberman's "pointed" faux criticique of Trump :

"This is putrescent intellectualism."

And accusing Haberman of being a member of the oligarchy :

"public relations from oligarchs."

"Family tradition: rubenstein.com/who-we-are/nan… Enough. Let the truth be known. And let mastheads crumble. 𐁿"

I love Eric's way with words. Especially his use of nicknames :

"Perjury Addict Jeff Sessions"

"Bobby Threesticks"
for Robert Muellar lll
