Twenty-seven motorcyclists stood in a circle inside the Good Shepherd Funeral Home in Omaha, all sporting war veteran patches on their leather jackets.

In front of them were three urns, painted with the American flag and adorned with dog tags. Inside each urn was the cremated remains of a veteran.

The bikers were on a mission.

They were driving 288 miles to Fort McPherson near Maxwell, Nebraska — picking up 100 more bikers at seven stops along the way — to give the three deceased veterans a full military funeral and burial.
