recs and a recent kick from me.

I find it interesting -

Who? Who me?

Where? Where at DU?

I hate feigned ignorance and innocence.

Folks might not like my opinions at DU - that's their prerogative. But at least I don't play games and I shoot straight. . . as did you.

It's the "I have never seen it, therefore it doesn't exist" mantra. Of course, when one is blinded to racism, it is hard to see it. Then there are those who "see" things which aren't there, such as the claim that "poor people don't matter." It is yet another discussion of racism which doesn't fit the white narrative, therefore must be whited...er, I mean "righted."

Too many people, IMO, expect "-isms" to be 'in your face' and if they aren't, well, then they really aren't bigoted; sometimes, they are just "jokes" and our kind (which ever group we hail from) is just being "oversensitive" and "looking to be offended".

"""I've always depended on the kindness of Kochs!""" in reference to Lindsay Graham adding his name to the clown roster. It's a joke! Get it? Making fun of gay people is OK when they are Republicans! Thankfully, that a-hole was sent packing.

And who can forget Michael Moore's "He'll only be remembered for being the first black president" quip. That wasn't racist claptrap. Oh no, it was just an "observation".

Thankfully, we have majority people to remind us minorities what is to be a minority.

Here, he brags about them (there were others): http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=6762584 and he went on about "sissys". It was vomit inducing.

How stupid do you have to be to barge into a thread clearly titled "Stop saying shit about Lindsay Graham being gay. His warmongering is more than enough to criticize him on" and then spend your entire time in the damn thread accusing Graham of being gay as if that is just so much worse than him being a war mongering psychopath??

What an asshole.

There were more than a few making excuses, which allowed several GLBT people to see who really is our ally and who may be our ally when it suite their needs. Sound familiar?! I stumbled in a thread where people called Clarence Thomas an "Uncle Tom" and couldn't really understand why they, as white people, shouldn't be making such charges.

using the phrase Uncle Tom and especially not to describe a black person. It got ALOT of responses, as you can imagine.

I can't understand the INSISTENCE by which some people have decided that they have the God given right to be hateful. You've got an individual who barges into a thread to do the ONE thing the OP was imploring people not to do and you've got people gay and straight, black and white telling him to cut it the fuck out and he just keeps doing it. And like you said, with the encouragement of others. I don't understand behavior like this. I just don't.

The world is full of assholes like this. And more than a few have made their way here.

It is another privilege a few white people are refusing to relinquish. The privilege of saying whatever they desire because they really understand racism and need to explain it to non-whites. It is similar to posts here in regards to anti-Semitism, GLBT issues, and women. To be quite honest, with the number of majorities "patting us on the head" to reassure us in their paternalistic way that more of us aren't sporting bald spots on the tops of our heads! It comes down to white people getting "offended" because people aren't white "just don't get their jokes."
